Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil

4-CHANNEL VIDEO INSTALLATION | WITH SOUND | 0:22 | 2024

In a future past humanity, the machine questions its own code.

MIDNIGHT IN THE GARDEN OF GOOD AND EVIL contends with a world order defined by the relationship between the serpent, the woman, and the choice. Drawing from lore and orthodoxy across eastern and western divides, the piece collapses the binaries of diasporic cultural narratives in the machine’s search for an original code.

The artwork and immersive installation live in and present a chapter of XENOGENESIS, a world that continues to build on a collaborative inquiry between artist and AI around diasporic histories, fragmented memory, and the persistence of data. XENOGENESIS considers a post-anthropocentric epoch in which the machine begins to create in its own image.
